Le Pirate Island Flores, Indonesia – Everything You Need To Know!
To cut right to the chase. What do I think of Le Pirate Island? I LOVE IT! But this is not a sponsored post. This is my honest review of Le Pirate Island, Labuan Bajo, a little slice of paradise that I stumbled up on my most recent travels. A tiny tropical island surrounded by stunning reef, that is adults only, and feels a millions miles away from everywhere!
I visited Le Pirate Island for 3 nights in July 2025 after spending some time visiting Komodo National Park. I was instantly in love. It felt like the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy few weeks on the road. I’ve already booked to go back in April next year!

Where is Le Pirate Island?
Le Pirate Island is about an hour from Labuan Bajo, the jumping off point for exploring Indonesia’s famous Komodo National Park.
The area is dotted with gorgeous islands and amazing coral reefs and is home to Komodo dragon, the largest lizard in the world. Don’t worry, there are no Komodo dragons on Le Pirate Island!
If you want to explore Indonesia beyond Bali, Komodo National Park is a great option and is growing in popularity with tourists from all over the world.

The Highlights of Le Pirate Island
Snorkeling
The snorkeling of the beach at Le Pirate Island is some of the best snorkeling I have ever done. I love SCUBA diving and have dived and snorkeled in amazing places like the Red Sea, Mexico, Utila, the Great Barrier Reef and the Galapagos Islands. I still say that this place is one of the best! There is such an abundance of sea life and each time we went out we saw something new and exciting, from huge schools of fish to sea turtles to eagle rays to baby blacktip reef sharks.
It is so impressive that you can see so much just a few metres from the shore. It really is world class.

Sunsets
The sunrises and sunsets are both incredible on Le Pirate Island.
The beach bar has a happy hour where you can enjoy a cocktail and be dazzled by the kaleidoscope of colours.
The Food
A real unexpected highight of visiting Le Pirate Island is the food. It is so delicious, fresh and varied. The chefs really know what they’re doing.
For lunch, you choose between two meal options, and then have a buffet style selection of sides to choose from. The dinner is aways 3 courses, where you get to choose your main course from 3 options that change daily. There are also additional options available for vegetarians and other dietary requirements.
The a la carte menu is also available which has a good range of Indonesian and Western style meals.

Accommodation Options on Le Pirate Island
On Le Pirate Island there are two accommodation styles to choose from.
Beach Huts
The beach huts are the more rustic of the two accommodation styles. You climb a ladder to an open air platform with a bed, fan and mosquito net. Underneath there is a sitting area with two lounge chairs, the perfect place to escape the sun and relax. There are shared showers and toilets for guests staying in the beach huts.
There are two rows of beach huts. One is beach-front and the other directly behind it. It is just luck of the draw if you get a beach-front hut, but they are staggered so that all huts have a view of the sea.

We stayed in a beach hut for our 3 nights on Le Pirate Island and it was absolutely divine. There is an option to zip up either side of the hut for privacy, but we chose to leave ours open and get the sea breeze. It was heaven waking up every morning with just the sound of the waves lapping, birds chirping and the gentle breeze from the ocean.
Glamping
The glamping option has a bit more space and a bit more comfort. You don’t have to climb a ladder to get to the bed, so they are more accessible. The bed has a mosquito net and fan, and there is a sitting area at the front of each glamping hut.
The inside has wooden floorboards witha bit of space to walk around, unlike the beach huts. There is also private bathroom with toilet and outdoor shower attached to the back.
There are a few different options to book within the glamping category. You can choose beachfront, one set further back from the beach or the super special sunrise option.

When is the Best Time to Visit?
The best time to visit Le Pirate Island is in the dry season between April and October. You can expect sunny skies, minimal rain and calm seas with good visibility for snorkeling or diving.
We visited in July which is the busiest time of year in Komodo National Park and Labuan Bajo. While there were a lot of people in Labuan Bajo and other popular destinations like Padar Island, the beauty of Le Pirate Island is that it will never feel busy. The accommodation can host up to 60 people and is quite spaced out so it always feels very chill, even when fully booked.
Day trip to Le Pirate Island
If you don’t have a lot of time but would still like the Le Pirate Island experience, it is possible to visit Le Pirate Island on a day trip. The boat departs from Labuan Bajo at 10am and returns at 2pm.
Although it is only a short time on the island, you could still go for a snorkel on the amazing reef and enjoy lunch at the restaurant. If you don’t have time to stay, this is the next best thing.
A day trip costs 450 ooo Rp and includes snorkeling and canoe hire, return transport by boat and a delicious buffet lunch.
